I am a retiree who worked for many years in the Meteorological
Service of Canada (formerly the Atmospheric Environment Service). Since
retiring I have written The Rise and Fall of Climate Applications: The
History of a Meteorological Service Program and edited A History
of Agrometeorology in Canada .
Prior to retiring I was in charge of MSC s Climate Applications and Impact
Division. The division was responsible for providing analyses and advice
in support of agriculture, offshore development, forestry, building design,
renewable energy, and various other sectors. Other jobs included weather
forecasting and leading a products development group that produced such things
as the 1961-90 Climate Normals for Canada, and the Canadian Daily Climate
Data personal computer package. I studied at the Universities of Victoria,
British Columbia and Alberta, graduating from the latter in 1971, with an
MSc in meteorology.
A draft of the above mentioned History of a Met. Service Program is available
at
