Ryszard S. Balcer I teach meteorological instrumentation and methods of observation in atmospheric physics in the Institute of Geophysics at Warsaw University, Poland. I am interested in historical methods and instruments in meteorology. Of particular interest are the history of instrumentation in science and the development of technology in the past (e.g. Galilei telescope) are of particular interest, especially the influence of specialized instruments (e.g. radiosondes, radar or satellites) on our knowledge about Earth and the environment. From an historical point of view, I am interested in questions about the invention, first use, and the first people working with new instruments. |
